For once, you had to be the fast one Defied and Denied in equal fashion And all the anger subsides As all the angels take sides And so you had to have the last ditch Upon this ship bewitched and commandeered The gray fallout of our lives. My heart. My heart. In twine. You bound my heart in twine. Our hearts entwined. And all the anger subsides. Our hearts entwined.

How long will be it be till will finish up and cleanse us of these stains? And how long will it be till will gather up and burn all the remains? And how long will we live with imaginary purpose? And how long will we live to blindly worship? Speaking 99 Names for God And how long will it be till we rub and clap the dirt off from our hands? And how long will it be till we finish filling all of these demands? And how long will it be until everything is perfect? And how long will it be until everything is worthless? Speaking 99 Names for God. Names for God

Secret 04:42
Hey there, where’re you going? You walked it off. But we need this conflict resolved You were a part of it all You were a part of this all The setting sun Those week-end tears shed by everyone That fall as rain, that fall with a thud Collected in puddles Can’t see my reflection at all You were a part of it all We need this conflict resolved This was the start of it all This was the start of it I don’t know, I don’t know how to take this Impatience. I don’t know, I don’t know how to take this That fragrance God must have been mistaken I don’t know how to take this. God must have been mistaken For forty days, or forty years The floods raged And the earth disappeared A Rainbow But where’s it going? The colours are off We’ve always had mixed results We need this conflict resolved You were a part of it all The setting sun The animals can’t see their reflections at all. You were a part of this all We need this conflict resolved This was the start of it all This was the start of it. I don’t know, I don’t know how to take this Impatience I don't know I don’t know how to take this That fragrance God must have been mistaken I don’t know how to take this God must have been mistaken Oh, the setting sun Some eighty years lived by everyone That fall as rain, or fall with a thud Collected in puddles Can’t see my reflection at all.

Once in the back of a Tiburon I had a deathbed conversion The nurse forgot to turn the defibrillator on And my soul it slipped out of the convertible And out into the night Past the turnpike Down the mountain side And in my somber slumber I threw this life away. Once in the Amazon I was riding on the back of a Tiburon I had forgot to turn my oxygenator on So I had a deathbed conversion I saw my life flicker-flash in a running back freeze-frame. I tried to isolate the errors in a double-time reply. I cried when I heard caesuras of my overture remade I knew this all would end some day.

Breathe, ready, steady, go It’s a cold day in hell. Believe it’s getting, getting old But let’s hope that no one can tell She’s blaming him for every Everything since the first day they fell. She’s hating him for everything And she’ll forgive when it’s a cold day in hell And it’s getting colder That was then and this is now Is what he told her. Breathe, ready, steady, go It’s a cold day in hell. Believe it’s getting, getting old But let’s hope that no one can tell It’s raining confetti, yet he Won’t celebrate with the new year’s bell She’s hating him for every Everything and she’ll forgive when it’s a cold day in hell And ah, well maybe you’ll understand when you get older Ah-ha, now maybe you’ll understand when you get older That’s what he told her. That was then and this is now but it’s not over. What have you got to say? What have you got to do? We’re getting older Don’t say I told you so What have you got to say? What have you got to do? We’re getting older This feels colder so The world is water We are 80% water. It’s what tears are made of And there’s nothing left to talk about What have you got to say? What have you got to do? We’re getting older And time is bolder so… Breathe, ready, steady, go It’s a cold day in hell. Breathe, ready, steady, go It’s a cold day in hell. Ah, well maybe you’ll understand when you get older Ah-ha, well maybe you’ll understand when you get older That’s what she told him. That was then and this is now

Well, what do you know today? I’ve been telling you that everything works. Well, what do you know today? I’ve been telling you everything’s reversed. Well what do you know today? I’ve been telling you that everything hurts. Well what do you know today? I’ve been telling you that everything’s worse. Right as Rain. It’s an element of strain Blow Kiss, Lip Gloss Well what do you know today? I’ve been telling you everything’s insured. Well what do you know today? I’ve been telling you everything’s injured. Hey bartender There’s an olive thrown in my drink And a yellow parasol that I never ordered It’s so chaotic Then they take your bill away, With a platinum credit card half-finished dessert. The ambiance is Scattered all around the place Like a deck of cards In a cellophane purse Lollipops are now Scattered all amongst the plates Silverware on the carpet Near a signature skirt The ambiance is Flattering enough to stay yet you pull up the car… We are done now taking orders Yet we can’t escape the ambiance We are done now taking orders We are through invading borders We are misbegotten soldiers We are done now taking orders Yet we can’t escape the ambiance Is this what you had in mind?

Once I was a child But now I am a man who’s reliving All his past denials and those That have crept into this, my present time. And clawed there way back into This decrepit mind that reads like a a rolodex of false charity I think we’re entitled to more than a blindfolded mercy Think we’re entitled to more than a lie. Once I walked a mile In someone else’s life unforgiving Those that were beguiled by elegance in the soliciting. I think we’re entitled to more than a blindfolded jury Think we’re entitled to more than a lie. I need to believe Believe we’re entitled to more than what we perceive I think I’m entitled to more than a blindfolded jury I think I’m entitled to more than a rifle’s mercy Believe I’m entitled to more than a lie

And you just might like it. (apple a day, apple a day, apple a day) And you just might need it. (apple a day, apple a day, apple a day) So if you lose it, (apple a day, apple a day, apple a day) You’d best retrieve it. (apple a day, apple a day, apple a day) Not cosmetic. So you won’t regret it. So if you leave it, You’d best retrieve it. NEWTON’S CHAIR! [why do I want this anyway?] And you just might feel it! So you better well mean it! It’s the real McCoy. You’d best believe it. NEWTON’S CHAIR. Hey, come away, start the day if I’m awake before seven. Oh, then we’ll go celebrate like we are little children. Hey, congregate, come of age sitting safely in Newton’s Chair. It’s hard to see with the sun in my eyes. It’s hard to believe we’ve become this narrow. It’s hard to see where I have shot my arrow.

How do you work this? How do you work this out? No one can stop this No one can stop this now How do you do it? How do you set things right? How do you sleep here? How do you sleep at night? You’re crushed by the weight of the sun All its awesome power You’re crushed by the weight on your lungs you deflate and cower You’re crushed by the weight of your heart Its meteor showers You’re crushed by the weight of your harp You’re crushed by, you’re crushed by How do you work this? How do you work this out? How do you stop this? How do you stop this now? How do you take this back? How do you set things right? How dare that you creep here How dare that you weep here How do you sleep at night? You’re crushed by the weight of the sun All its awesome power You’re crushed by the weight of your lungs So prouder and prouder You’re crushed by the weight of your heart Its meteor showers You’re crushed by the weight of your harp You’re crushed by, you’re crushed by How do you do it? How do set things right? How do you do it? How do you sleep at night? You’re crushed by the weight of the sun You fold and you cower You’re crushed by the weight of your heart The meteor showers You’re crushed by the weight on your lungs Filling up with cowards You’re crushed by the weight of your harp You’re crushed by, you’re crushed by

The sun, it took a long, long time to set today. Just like a man who’s approaching death His feet swaying below his neck. Eyes already rolled inside his head He sees the entrance He sees the entrance. Yesterday, in a previous state of arrest He was the sun’s first guest. Now, isn’t that a son-of a bitch. I say, life’s a dirty trick But now he feels elated He feels elated. I was reading out behind the barn It was a story by Nathaniel Hawthorne The day is already approaching dark And I still have a ways to walk So I know I won’t finish But I’m too proud to give in We were playing behind grandma’s store When we heard the thunder roar and roar. You said you “had to piss like a race horse.” You said a pumpkin was nothing more Than a house rats live in. Than a house rats live in. We worked so hard, we worked so hard to maintain this level of comfort. We work so hard to raise our heads In this public that sees they’re encumbered And it’s so wrong that this home of ours Is pregnant with fear, and asunder And I’d stay and fight, yes I would but I find that we are outnumbered. Outnumbered. I used to want to be a Sorcerer I walked around a church three times backwards Repeated all the funny and fancy words. Drank a homemade elixer Inebriated Inebriated You found me asleep in the graveyard You shook me awake using both your arms Your look told exactly from where you stood I said “I’d never leave this place, if I could” You said, “pardon?” You said, “pardon?” We worked so hard, we worked so hard At burning all the remains. Every table, every fable And now we begin again. It’s this birthmark, it’s this birthmark Well, I used to think it a stain. Now I’m able and I’m thankful As I see it outshines the plain; It’s in the right place.

Oh, I said "the world is flat!" And the committee gasped, And the King, well he rasped "How do you know?" "I took the Queen on a chance, and we had a tap dance off the edge of it." (That's how) Then the King had a laugh Accused me of a madness An uncommon sadness To which I was hurled: "Take a look at this map. Do you notice the gaps? Well I say, what's between them?" That's no man's land That's where the dragons attack You oughta know. That's no man's land, Hey I hear the dragons are black And indigo. What's between them? Let's keep this just between us The wind at our backs We filled up our flasks And didn't mind all the rats We were but stargazers No where is home Except what can be known And that's what can be found We set sail at dawn We sailed across the pond And had an uncommon bond of which all were amazed Look through the scope A little mound of hope And that's what we are! Just past this no man's land That's where the dragons attack You oughta know. That's no man's land I hear the dragon are black And indigo. Then a big wave, came and crashed down And it swept us off the course Just a big wave, with our mast down And it swept us off the course Off to shore! Then a big wave! Came and crashed down! And it swept us off to shore! What's between them? Let's keep this just between us That's no man's land. The world is flat.

[Working Lyrics] Inside my dear It’s warmer than sea water Preside my dear Over legions of defrauders Imbibe my dear On luscious free lager Revive my dear With all our dreams realized Yet all we have is denied Divide Divide Decide Decide! Decide! Confide my dear It’s warmer than sweet water Provide/survive my dear For…. Reside my dear On luscious Disguise my dear With all our thoughts denied Denied! Decide! Decide! Decide!

Night is dark The dark has teeth Angels play harps While devils weep ahhh, we say goodnight The dark is art The sun is whole Trees are art Soup served in a bowl ahhh, we say goodnight The sky is dark The sun is old Life is hard Or so I’ve been told. Who is this man? And where is he going Carrying a big lamp to light his way Through the darkest caverns and tightest corridors With thoughts too bold If we work too hard will there be anything for tomorrow? Say goodnight

about

owenshire Ontario

Owenshire was born when Robert Muhlbock bought a bass guitar in 1992 and began recording dozens of bass and vocal demos under that name.

Two albums, numerous "live demos," one too-long hiatus and (most importantly) one bass distortion pedal later, Muhlbock continues to release riff-based alt. rock, scattered with lush harmonies and dotted with cryptic and/or disillusioned lyrics.
